Evesham Baptist Church

dBx Acoustics worked with Allan Joyce Architects Ltd on the acoustic design of the new building for Evesham Baptist Church, Worcestershire.

As well as The Sanctuary, the main worship space, the building incorporates a flexible Gathering Space which can be used as an extension of the Sanctuary or for informal gatherings, a dedicated Prayer Room, and meeting and office space.

The Church’s primary acoustic concerns were to achieve an appropriate level of acoustic separation between adjacent spaces, and good room acoustic conditions for the proposed uses.

dBx Acoustics established acoustic design criteria to support realisation of the Church’s acoustic ambitions, and aided the architectural team in selecting appropriate partition constructions and developing junction and penetration details to control sound flanking.

We used the Odeon software package to create acoustic models of both the Sanctuary and Gathering Space, to optimise the specification, quantity and placement of acoustically absorptive treatments to ensure good speech intelligibility and occupant comfort throughout.

The project was completed in December 2023.
